Create and Link to articles without a menu in Joomla!
For Joomla! users, I am sure it is a little frustrating sometimes when you write an article and try to reference it with simple URL-friendly titles only to be greeted by a 404 not found error.

How to remove “Welcome to Joomla” on the front page
Joomla! is a terrific Content Management System (CMS) that makes the creation of a professional-looking website a breeze. It is a very popular tool with tons of add-ons – templates, modules, plugins, components etc. – that allows you to customize the software to your heart’s content. Once in a while, the need arises to change something and you do not know how to go about it. Joomla! is open source, so there are a lot of support forums on the internet where you can quickly get answers to some vexing problems you may be having. In some cases, it may take a while to get straight answers to a simple question because disagreements between “gurus” as to what the right solution is. Such was the case recently when I wanted to remove the “Welcome to Joomla” title on the front page of a Joomla-based website. Long story short, I had to figure it out myself. The irony of it all is that it is so simple that you wonder why there is so much hyperventilation on the support forums.
To remove the title on the front page of a Joomla! website, do this:
- Log in as admin on the backend,
- go to “Menus” and choose “Main Menu”.
- Look for a menu item called “Home” and click on it to edit.
- On the right side, there are a few “Parameters” settings. Look for the one that says “Parameters (System)” and click on it to expand.
- Look for the “Show Page Title” option and select the “No” radio button and save.
That will hide the “Welcome to Joomla or Whatever” on the front page.
On the other hand, if you are trying to change the title or greeting from “Welcome to Joomla!” to “Welcome to Our site”, you can do that here too. Instead of hiding the title page, just change the title to reflect the new greeting.
It worked great for me and I hope this helps. It drove me crazy for a while.
